In fourth grade, our son B---- was losing confidence in his reading and writing abilities.  We were referred to Nicole by our school's reading specialist and she has really done a great job in helping him succeed.  B---- did not enjoy reading and was unmotivated to do his homework.  Nicole, through her warm, yet energetic approach was able to turn reading and writing into an enjoyable and manageable subject.  In fact, B---- is a completely different kid.  He is confident in tackling his increasingly difficult English and History papers and most importantly, he is able to tackle his assignments independently.  His writing has improved noticeably over time and he looks forward to his classes and actively participates.  In fact, English is currently one of his favorite subjects in school!  This 180-degree turnaround is all due to Nicole's dedication, her thoughtful lesson plans, providing mentoring and creating topical and focused summer camps.  It is even more impressive that Nicole was able to not only continue teaching lessons but also do it so seamlessly and effectively over Zoom throughout Covid.  We are thoroughly impressed and grateful for all Nicole has done to put B----- on track to continue thriving in reading and writing!  She loves what she does and it really shines through.

Nicole worked with my son on his writing skills for 2 years starting in 3rd grade after his school recommended that he could use some additional support. During this time, they used The Writing Revolution homework, focused on summarizing topic and conclusion sentences and on how to organize a paragraph using an outline. Nicole came to our home every week with a great attitude and was always prepared with new and creative strategies for engaging my son. When my son began working with Nicole, he told me that he would never like writing.  Now, he is in 7th grade at a competitive New York City private school.
